We've fallen in love with this line of cards and magnets by Curly Girl that we are thrilled to now be carrying in Red Tent Sisters. We never tire of reading and admiring these mini works of art with quotes like "I am fairly certain that given a cape and a nice tiara, I could save the world." So, we've decided to add a little joyous creativity to the summer by inviting you all to our "What would you do with a tiara and a cape?" event. What's involved you ask? Simple - reply to this post or send us an email (info@redtentsisters.com) with a description of what you would do if you had a cape and a tiara for a day. Your submission can be one sentence or one page - your call. Read other people's posts, write supportive replies to your fellow female superheroes, and tell us which ones you love most. On September 1st we will choose our favourite piece and award the winner a $100 shopping spree to Red Tent Sisters (or ecosex.ca, if you don't live in Toronto). The winner will be featured in our September newsletter.
If you post online, don't forget to include information about how we can contact you in the event that you win!
Have fun!
What a great idea! I'm going to get started on my entry right away.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea. I will think of something to enter.
ReplyDeleteWith a cape and tiara, I'd have a dress-up party for every girl and woman in the world who needed to feel like a queen and remember she is one!
ReplyDelete@dennie: LOVE IT! Every woman should feel deserving, loved and appreciated and what a way to celebrate that!
ReplyDeleteIf I had a cape and a tiara for a day (and a wand, naturally), I would ride the subway for a while, granting wishes to those who smiled, and smiling at those who snarled. I would spend some time riding the elevators at the various Bay St. bank towers, carrying on in a similarly benevolent manner. Then I would buy several big trays of fair trade coffee and wander the streets passing it out. Finally, I would meet my grade 12 daughter at school to walk her home.

Thanks for all the beautiful online and e-mail submissions ladies - they are truly inspirational. Keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteI got the Curly Girl magnet which says, “Some people go their whole lives and don’t live even one day. She didn’t intend on being one of them”.
ReplyDeleteThis morning, as I saw it there on the fridge, I thought of all your cards, and I decided that instead of cleaning the floors and restarting the compost heap, I would make my two year old daughter a cape. It was an afternoon well spent by my new Curly Girl inspired standards. Next time I ‘need’ to clean, I think I will make her a tiara.
In my mother-of-two-small-children daze, I’m not sure what I would do if I had my own cape and tiara to change the world, but am glad that these cards motivated me to change my own world a little, and hopefully my daughter’s too.
Just reading these is like getting a tiara and cape shared by sisters. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI would take my nieces on my back and fly to countries all over the world so they could learn who their sisters are in other countries - to understand their herstories, struggles and joys. Then I would share the cape with other girls around the world who could also see the world through the eyes of girls and women everywhere.
ReplyDeleteyou inspired a blog posting for me...http://similarcircles.blogspot.com/2010/08/shared-cape-and-tiara.html
